Competing in the Southeast, Rue’s E-Learning Design Wins Award
Monday, September 14, 2009
Rue Education E-Learning Services Supervisor, Melissa Kievit, was honored for the design techniques used in the Rue Online Facilitator Certification. Her design of the Rue Education module, The Rue Facilitator and Online Best Practices, won the Southeast ANGEL User Group, Best Module award.
The ANGEL module design contest covered 13 states in the Southeast Users’ Group. The winning module explained “How to be the Best Rue Faculty a Trainee Could Be.” It included information on Rue’s pedagogy and approach to online learning; best practices for a superior online faculty; the characteristics, responsibilities and expectations of a faculty member; and activities demonstrating that they are in line with Rue’s expectations. All Rue faculty members must successfully complete the entire training – all four modules – prior to being given their first online learning system to facilitate.
Not only did Melissa win the ANGEL Southeast User’s Group Module Design Competition, the ANGEL Southeast User’s Group site showcased her lesson. In addition, Melissa spoke at the May 2009 ANGEL National User’s Conference in Chicago, Ill. and was nominated for an IMPACT award.
